CHRISTMAS . . . CHILDREN’S WARTIME STOCKING Come and experience an alternative Christmas, as the Good Fairy guides you through the tunnels to discover more about Christmas in the 1940s. There will be singing and characters along the way to show you how to find Father Christmas and his grotto. Make sure you bring a sock or stocking so you can collect your wartime gifts. ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY Take a tour of Stockport Air Raid Shelters followed by a festive glass of wine and a mince pie. There’ll be Christmas FEAST OR FAMINE How would Christmas left-overs been used in wartime Britain and what food would’ve been available during the festive period? Find out more with a tour of the shelters and a cookery demonstration at the ‘British Restaurant’ in Stockport Story Museum. |
